HCJFS has hired a senior-level specialist to coordinate and manage the agency’s behavioral health work as the agency attempts to serve more families and children with greater emotional and mental health needs.

Nina Lewis joins the agency after many years of work in the public health field. She will lead the agency’s behavioral health transition to Medicaid managed care for foster children, with a focus on multi-system partnerships, community-based programs and in-home services that strengthen the agency’s behavioral health offering.

Interested in summer employment? Hamilton County Job and Family Services’ previous Summer Youth Employment Program is now part of the Comprehensive Case Management Employment Program, a dynamic year-round program for county youth ages 14 to 24.

Hamilton County caseworkers helped 141 children find forever families in 2017, celebrating the most adoptions in agency history.

The previous high was 135 in 2007.

Food and cash assistance recipients in Hamilton County will soon sign their recertification papers with an audio signature, a process that will reduce the number of cases where people lose benefits because of unreturned paperwork.

Graduating high school is not a given. In fact, foster children are much more likely to drop out of school and not graduate than their peers. The young people we celebrate every June worked hard to avoid that fate.
