HCJFS participates in Big Day of Foster Care

HCJFS Director Moira Weir was one of several foster care proponents who spoke at City Hall on Monday before the Cincinnati City Council Budget Committee.

A coalition of groups including Beech Acres Parenting Center, Child Focus, Choices Inc., the City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati State, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Diversion Adolescent Foster Care, Focus on Youth, Inc., Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Haile/US Bank Foundation, HCJFS, Lighthouse Youth Services, National Youth Advocate Program, Necco, Pressley Ridge, Cincinnati Public Schools, Saint Joseph Orphanage, St. Aloysius Orphanage, St. Joseph Orphanage, Talbert House, The Bair Foundation, Buckeye Ranch, the University of Cincinnati have started an effort to promote foster care in the community.

Councilman Charlie Winburn organized the day in council chambers to bring visibility to the effort.

HCJFS Director Moira Weir spoke about the importance of foster care to the roughly 1,000 kids the agency cares for.
